How to Have Joy in the Midst of Suffering
Interview of Alexandra by Dr. Venessa Ellen on the topic of “How to Have Joy in the Midst of Suffering.” Alexandra shares two halves of her testimony: handling suffering the wrong way vs. handling suffering in biblical ways. She and Dr. Ellen discuss four steps all Christians can take to have joy in the midst of trials and suffering.
Dr. Venessa Ellen serves as the Professor of Women’s Ministry and Program Coordinator at the College of Biblical Studies where she teaches, counsels, trains and mentors women. She also services as the Church administrator and Director of Women’s Ministry at Community of Faith Bible Church in Houston, Texas.

SCRIPTURE (Pt. 1)
A life overflowing with deep, soul-quenching joy is available to any Christian woman because of what Christ accomplished on the cross. But one thing gets in the way of each of us experiencing that: sin.
God’s Word says that the Son of Man was tempted in all things, and yet did not sin. Scripture gives us special insight in why and how that was possible, and clear examples of ways Jesus chose joy over sin that we can learn from. Alexandra teaches the tools of fighting sin through Scripture, prayer, and confession.

JOY
Faith Church Women’s Ministries presented “Joy to the World,” a Christmas luncheon ministry event. Women of Faith Church gathered with friends for a sweet afternoon of fellowship and a challenge from Alexandra on how we can spread Christ’s JOY throughout the Christmas season:
“Fresh out of a recent tragedy in my life, I am teaching on the topic of joy; this will include a few essential choices you will make during this Christmas season that will directly affect your ability to share joy to the world around you. These choices are a challenge in my personal walk with Christ and I hope to be used as ‘iron sharpening iron’ in your life.”
